Open Records

In accordance with the Open Records Act KRS 61.870 a written request addressed to the Board office is necessary to receive a copy of documents by mail or to schedule an in-office review of documents.

Kentucky law mandates that the agency respond within three (3) business days to a request for documents. The agency may charge a reasonable copy fee per page plus actual postage.

Some documents are exempt by law from open record requests, including but not limited to birth date, social security number, home telephone number, and patient records.

There is no requirement in the law for a state agency to notify a licensee when a member of the public makes an Open Records request for documents in the file of the licensee.
